Although the finances may, for many, be the boring part of the planning of a wedding, it is still an important part.

Very few couples have the money to throw the wedding of their dreams, so it's important to be realistic when you start out, and find out exactly how much you have to spend - you don't want to be half way through the planning and run out of money.

Which is more important ?

Obviously the marriage is more important, but then why do so many couples put themselves in mountains of debt "just to throw a party"?

You should, whether you like it or not, throw the kind of party you can afford - that's definitely best for the marriage in the long run. Don't lose sight of what it's all about !
